Innovative machine control increases productivity and energy efficiency

Okuma upgrades more CNC machine tools with OSP-P500

Krefeld (Germany), 18 June 2024. The new version of Okuma’s CNC control, launched in June 2023, offers companies exceptional user-friendliness, more climate-friendly possibilities, reliable protection against cyberattacks and much more. For this reason, well-known machine series are now being equipped as standard with the CNC control OSP-P500. This means customers are well-prepared to meet current and future manufacturing challenges.

With the latest development of its machine control, the renowned CNC machine tool supplier is now even better equipped to meet key customer requirements, such as the growing shortage of skilled labour and the increasing demand for sustainable, energy-efficient production. The innovative CNC control OSP-P500 features an exceptionally user-friendly interface and a range of intelligent functions designed to reduce cycle times and minimise resource consumption. In addition, the CNC control ensures continuous, secure manufacturing through advanced security measures.

GENOS M-5AX series: Optimum profitability, compact design
The 5-axis Vertical Machining Centres of the proven GENOS M-5AX series are already being supplied with the new CNC control. This allows companies to benefit from even greater precision, much faster machining times and reduced CO2 emissions. With an optimum price/performance ratio, compact footprint and ease of operation thanks to the OSP-P500, this series is the ideal entry-level model for machining a wide range of materials.

Highly complex machining with the MU-VIII series
The OSP-P500 integration also enables the MU-400VIII and MU-500VIII 5-axis Machining Centres to achieve maximum productivity and precision for process-intensive machining. The large work area ensures that even highly complex workpieces up to 700 mm in diameter can be efficiently machined. As part of the Green Smart Machines, both Machining Centres are specially designed for low-emission and energy-saving operation and come with ECO Suite Plus. In addition, Okuma’s proven Intelligent Technologies, such as the Thermo-Friendly Concept, are used to ensure maximum accuracy and process efficiency.

MA-600HIII: High-performance machining for a wide range of applications
The Horizontal Machining Centre MA-600HIII provides maximum cutting performance, dimensional stability, accuracy for the production of components for railways, construction machinery, the automotive industry, or agriculture. An extremely durable and powerful spindle supports a wide range of applications. The MA-600HIII also uses significantly fewer resources thanks to its innovative machine control.

Maximum precision in tool and mould making: MB-80V
This is also the case with the Vertical Machining Centre MB-80V. It has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of economical heavy machining combined with fine machining for optimum precision. Thanks to the new version of the CNC control, the machine offers significant productivity gains when machining medium to large parts.

In addition, the Machining Centres MB-46VII,MB-56VII and MB-4000H have already been equipped with the innovative new machine control, with other machine series to follow later in the year. Interested companies can also see the benefits of the OSP-P500 for themselves at the AMB trade fair in Stuttgart in September 2024. Okuma will be exhibiting numerous machines with the new control system in hall 10, booth D71.
