Okuma acquires Dutch Gelderblom CNC Machines B.V.
Krefeld (Germany), 19 May 2020. Okuma Europe GmbH has acquired 100 percent of the Dutch company Gelderblom CNC Machines B.V. The purchase of the long-established sales partner in the Benelux countries will enable Okuma to expand its highly efficient service and support portfolio and to systematically strengthen its position in the most important European countries for high-tech machine tools. Local Okuma customers will also benefit from direct access to Okuma and to its products and services.
The purchase agreement between Okuma Europe and Gelderblom CNC Machines was signed by both parties on 15 May 2020 after an exclusive distribution partnership spanning more than 40 years. Gelderblom CNC Machines B.V. is a full subsidiary of Okuma Europe GmbH as of this date. It now operates under the name Okuma Benelux B.V. and will manage the restructured sales and service processes in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg from the existing Gelderblom location in Houten, the Netherlands. Okuma has also taken on all of the 40 employees of the former Gelderblom CNC Machines as part of the acquisition.
"The Benelux countries are one of our most important sales markets in Europe, so it is particularly important to be close to customer requirements there and to be able to respond directly with products and services," explains Takeshi Yamamoto, CEO Okuma Europe GmbH. "The new local focus of the sales and service structure makes this possible in an ideal way. Ultimately, we also wish to increase the success of our customers by optimising our pre- and after-sales services, true to our motto 'Open Possibilities'.”
