Okuma expands technological leadership in the mould & die sector

Okuma has recently joined the WBA (Tooling Academy Aachen) and the VDWF (Association of German Tool and Mouldmakers). The new memberships allow for closer collaborations with partners from science and research.

Okuma is now a cooperation member of the WBA and member of the VDWF. The membership in the WBA will connect Okuma with leading experts in the tool and die industry, while the VDWF membership mainly serves to represent the interests of the German die & mould industry. Okuma is proud to be one of the industry’s leaders with more than 8,000 Okuma double column machining centres installed worldwide, out of which around 3,500 are used by the automotive industry. With the new memberships, Okuma seeks to expand technological leadership.

WBA – First address for mould and die companies

With its proximity to the RWTH Aachen and the Fraunhofer Society, the WBA is the main hub for mould and die manufacturers. Its innovative power and a well-connected and interdisciplinary community of companies and experts contribute to its lead. The regular WBA meetings are highlights of the German mould and die sector. Okuma is looking forward to the WBA’s annual meeting in November where new projects are planned and assigned, giving Okuma the possibility to participate more actively in state-of-the-art research and development. As a member, Okuma gains access to the annual industry report providing insights into the latest trends and developments of the mould and die branch. This includes complete access to the virtual campus which entails a multitude of information and data.

VDWF – Stronger together

As a new member of the VDWF, Okuma helps supporting a higher visibility of the German mould and die industry. The association acts as a network for members from within the industry, mechanical engineering, as well as science and research. In addition VDWF offers further education and training. Both memberships are an important step to substantiate Okuma’s longstanding and constantly growing lead in the mould and die sector.
