Okuma Europe is new premium sponsor of the TUfast racing team

Krefeld/Munich (Germany), 10 May 2022. Okuma Europe is a new premium sponsor of the Munich TUfast racing team. This allows the company to promote the next generation of engineers and also make a contribution to the further development of the automotive industry.

Since 2002, the student initiative TUfast from the Technical University of Munich (TU) has been developing a new racing car every year, hoping to emerge as the winner at the Formula SAE. In the international construction competition, students from all around the world develop and build their own racing car and compete against each other in various disciplines. It is not all about thespeed. . Only the perfect total package of engineering design, performance, cost, and presentation of the car brings the overall win. The winner is the one, who scores the most of the maximum possible 1,000 points. Since 2010, electric drives also have been allowed to enter the competition.

Individual vehicle parts from Okuma
With immediate effect, Okuma as premium sponsor supports the team at the TU Munich on their way to winning. The company is supplying various components for the vehicle that were previously designed by the students and have been manufactured on two different Okuma machines in Krefeld for a precise fit. The first one used is the five-axis MU-8000V machining centre, impressive for complex components with its high traversing speed and cutting performance, dimensional stability, and dimensional accuracy, among other things. And the MULTUS B250 II multitasking machine can also be used for precise complete machining of turned and milled parts at high speed for small to medium-sized batch sizes.

Okuma is happy  to promote both, the multi-disciplinary training of young engineers and thereby having a positive effect on the automotive industry: “The students are really dedicated to their work and are enjoying it. It is precisely this talent and curiosity required to mould the automotive industry of the future”, explains Norbert Teeuwen, Managing Director of Okuma Europe.
