Maximum precision with minimum floorspace

Okuma introduces two new machines in the MULTUS U series

Krefeld, 14. April 2026. Okuma is presenting two new Multitasking Machines in the MULTUS U series for 5-axis simultaneous machining: the MULTUS U1000 and MULTUS U2000 deliver powerful and consistent precision, even during long production runs and with high product variety. Key features include a standard magazine for up to 80 tools and seamless process integration and automation capabilities. Thanks to their compact dimensions, these machines fit easily into even the smallest production facilities.

Whether for complex geometries and challenging materials such as titanium in medical technology, or increasingly intricate and high-functionality components for robotics systems and electric vehicles: Manufacturing requirements are constantly rising. At the same time, economic pressure is increasing, often accompanied by skills shortages and limited production space. As a single-source provider, Okuma responds to these challenges by combining outstanding CNC machine tools with advanced process integration and automation technologies.

Powerful spindle, fewer tool changes
The new Multitasking Machines MULTUS U1000 and MULTUS U2000 offer X/Y/Z axis travels of 550/220/880 mm, as well as B- and C-axes with 240° and 360°, ensuring maximum dimensional accuracy, first-class cutting performance and exceptional productivity. The MULTUS U1000 features a main spindle with a speed up to 6,000 min-1 and a 6-inch chuck, while the MULTUS U2000 provides a main spindle with a speed up to 5,000 min-1 and an 8-inch chuck. Both machines offer a generous machining area and are in standard equipped with an automatic tool changer for up to 80 tools, reducing manual intervention even in highly mixed production environments with numerous machining processes and tools. Optionally, a chain magazine for up to 120 tools or a matrix magazine for up to 180 tools can be used.

Automation accelerates processes
These machines also impress with their automation options, enabling even greater productivity. Robots for loading and unloading can be positioned closer to the machine thanks to flat machine fronts. In addition, a loading robot can be integrated into the machine, reducing the space required for machining cells, particularly in mass production. Other options include a bar feeder, which supplies material to the spindle, and a parts unloader, which removes finished workpieces from the machine.

Precision through advanced technologies
The turret rotation axis and main spindle have been further developed for even greater precision. For continuous operation, day and night, the machines are equipped with Okuma’s 5-Axis Auto Tuning System: after a brief calibration, this system detects and compensates manufacturing tolerances and wear-related errors in machine geometry, ensuring consistently high production quality. An optional AI solution is available to automatically monitor machine condition, allowing early detection and prevention of potential failures. With the Thermo-Friendly Concept, both the MULTUS U1000 and MULTUS U2000 adapt to fluctuating ambient temperatures. The Collision Avoidance System ensures maximum process safety. The machines are operated via the CNC control OSP-P500, which boosts productivity thanks to its user-friendly interface, even for inexperienced users.

Both the MULTUS U1000 and MULTUS U2000 require only 8.2 m² of floor space, making them the most compact machines in the MULTUS U series. With dimensions of just 3,510 x 2,345 mm, the design is also significantly narrower, enabling installation in confined environments while leaving room for optional attachments.
